The Queen?s Beasts are ten representative statues of Queen Elizabeth II?s hereditary genealogy which are in term depicted as royal emblems of England. These beasts stood present at Westminster Abbey for the Queen's coronation in 1953. Each of the beasts supports a shield bearing the coat of arms of all families associated with the Queen's ancestry. Among these beasts is the White Lion of Mortimer. Crowned as the Golden Lion of England, it has been part of the Royal Arms since the reign of Edward IV (1461-1483). The Lion of Mortimer supports a shield that portrays the Arms of the United Kingdom as they have been since the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837.
As part of the Royal Mints collection since 2016, the Queens Beasts White Lion is an accurate portrayal of history along with the country?s current royal status. The coin contains 1 troy ounce of pure gold and has a face value of ?100. It features Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on its obverse and the fierce White Lion of Mortimer on its reverse. Both sides designed by the famous Jody Clark.
With a face value of ?100, the 2020 1 oz gold White Lion Gold Coin can be used as legal tender and, as such, is VAT Free and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) exempt.
