At BuyBullion24 we highlight three options of storage, but each do have their pros and cons.

Home storage

Storing your precious metal bullions at home allow you to personally enjoy your tangible asset 24/7!

There is however the unwanted possibility of theft, burglary and loss to consider. Unlike stocks where your certificate can be reprinted for a small fee, if you lose your bullion, it’s gone and can only be replaced by purchasing it again.

For home storage BB24 recommends purchasing a safe to store it within for ultimate protection within your residence. We also recommend placing said safe in a unique location within your home and keep the number of people aware of it to a minimum.

Bank storage

Banks throughout the UK (and globally!) offer storage facilities for your precious possessions such as safety deposit boxes. When comparing these to third party depositories, deposit boxes can be very cost effective starting from just £100/year. Storing your bullion at the bank not only offers you security of your assets, but also liquidity as resell will be very straight forward and almost instantaneous.

Naturally there can be limitations to this form of storage, such as access to your products due to the restricted operational retail hours.

Third party

Using a depository for your financial assets offers the opportunity to divide your collection through a number of storage facilities and therefore increasing your assets security. Facilities such as vaults at Brinks, a world-renowned security service, offer the perfect storage option alongside fully comprehensive insurance.
